30 teams in 30 days: New York Yankees.

Today we take a quick look at the New York Yankees.

Last year was a pretty big year for the Bronx Bombers. They saw Derek Jeter get his 3,00th hit (on a home run no less), Mariano Rivera became the all time saves leader, and the Yankees won yet another AL East Division title. It came to a bitter end though as the Yankees lost game 5 of the division series at home to the Detroit Tigers.

In my mind the Yankees are the team to beat in the A.L. East this year. They have a strong offensive lineup anchored by guys like Mark Teixeira, and Robinson Cano. Their starting staff is solid as well led by ace C.C. Sabathia. It will be interesting to see how Micheal Pineda performs in his first year in pinstripes. When it comes to the bullpen the Yanks still have the best closer of all time waiting for the 9th inning to come. The Yankees are still stacked and should win the AL East again in 2012.

Tomorrow we take a quick look at the Tampa Bay Rays.
